HCCB to also create an oxygen bank with more than 50 cylinders in Patna – a first such initiative in Bihar
Patna, July 28, 2021 - Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), one of India's top FMCG companies, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), is setting up an oxygen plant in Patna in anticipation of the predictable 3rd wave of COVID-19. The oxygen plant is fully sponsored by HCCB and will produce 2.88 lakh litres of oxygen per day. The lifesaving oxygen plant will be set-up at the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Building near Gandhi Maidan in Patna. The IRCS will provide oxygen cylinders from the plant to hospitals in and around Patna on zero profits. This is a part of a nationwide initiative wherein HCCB plans to set-up eight such plants across the country.
Additionally, HCCB is creating an oxygen bank in Patna – a first such initiative in the state, which will serve as grounds to ensure a steady supply of oxygen for the city. HCCB is providing more than 50 cylinders with a capacity of 25 litres each towards this oxygen bank. The company, in its fight against COVID-19, has contributed more than 100 oxygen concentrators and cylinders across the country so far.
Speaking on furthering its commitment in helping its communities, Kamlesh Sharma, Chief Public Affairs and Communication Officer, HCCB said “As an organisation we at HCCB are committed to help the nation fight the deadly pandemic. It’s an absolute honour for us to play our part in providing a life-saving equipment for the people of Patna. We would like to thank IRCS for helping us set-up this oxygen plant as a proactive measure to help the city be prepared to combat the possible crisis of the anticipated 3rd wave of coronavirus. HCCB will continue to strive and serve the community in times of calamity such as CoVID.”
On behalf of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Bihar chapter, we would like to extend our gratitude and heartfelt thanks to Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages for extending monetary support to establish a medical grade Oxygen generation plant within our premises in Patna. HCCB has been a noteworthy patron and has supported us on numerous occasions in the past. With their support, we will now be able to provide the poor and needy sections of society with oxygen support which has become a critical medical requirement during the ongoing pandemic" said, Dr B.B. Sinha, Chairman, IRCS Bihar State Branch.
Setting up of the Oxygen Plant is part of HCCB’s nation-wide CoVID Care plan that includes donating ventilators, ICU beds, ICU equipment, BiPAP machines and several other medical emergency amenities to several hospitals in the country. HCCB has also facilitated vaccination camps and support programs across its offices, factories, and communities. In its bid to support vaccination camps being held across the country HCCB is sponsoring free beverages at vaccination centers and to frontline workers who have been serving communities tirelessly - nurses, health workers, police, ambulance staff, ASHA workers etc.
