Rajya Sabha MP, Sri Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao inaugurates oxygen plant commissioned by HCCB, at the Govt. Hospital, Repalle, in Guntur

  • The oxygen plant by HCCB will serve Repalle Mandalvillages/ panchayats with a population of around 1.11 lakh people

Vijayawada, Jan 24, 2022 – Sri Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao, Honorable Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha inaugurated a new oxygen plant commissioned by Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) at the Area Government Hospital, Repalle in the Guntur district. The plant was handed over to Sri Anagani Satya Prasad, MLA & Chairman – Hospital Development Society, Government Hospital, Repalle. This plant by HCCB is with support from the International Red Cross Society, Guntur District Branch, is a part of the company’s COVID Care project in Andhra Pradesh. Other dignitaries present at the event included the officials of Indian Red Cross Society - Sri Ravi Vadlamani, Chairman, IRCS, Guntur; Sri P. Ramachandra Raju, Vice-Chairman, IRCS; Sri A. Ravi Srinivas, Treasurer, IRCS; Mr. Abhinav Singh, Factory Manager, HCCB; and Sri D. Raghuram, Factory HR Manager, HCCB, Atmakuru.

The Oxygen plant will be catering to the Oxygen requirement of the Area Government Hospital at Repalle Taluk of Guntur district, catering to 1.11 lakh people across Repalle Mandam villages/panchayats. The plant has a capacity of 135 Litres Per Minute – which is capable of serving 27 normal beds i.e., 5 litre/minute or 9 ICU/Ventilator beds i.e., 15 litre/minute, with 93% pure Oxygen.

Highlighting the need to proactively work towards battling the 3rd wave of COVID-19, Kamlesh Sharma, Chief Public Affairs and Communication Officer, HCCB said “It gives us immense pleasure to have this oxygen plant in the state of Andhra Pradesh inaugurated by Shri Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao and other dignitaries. . The commissioning of the Oxygen plant in Repalle Taluk - Guntur district is yet another step in HCCB’s efforts to help the country bolster its defence against the 3rd wave of the Covid pandemic. The oxygen plant follows our earlier initiative where we distributed ventilators, ICU beds and equipment, dry ration kits, and beverages to the hospitals and the community workers in the state.”.

HCCB recently dedicated oxygen plant at Poonamallee Taluk in Tamil Nadu and has been actively working with local administrators to set up more oxygen plants across the country such as in Patna (Bihar), Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), Kheda (Gujarat) and Ramanagara (Karnataka). The company has already spent Rs. 6 crores in providing healthcare support, food, beverages, and ration in combating the second wave of covid.

In Andhra Pradesh, HCCB donated ventilators, ICU beds, ICU equipment, BiPAP machines and several other medical emergency amenities to several hospitals. HCCB also aided the poor and underprivileged with distribution of dry ration kits, provided free beverages at vaccination centers, and to the frontline workers - nurses, health workers, police, ambulance staff, ASHA workers etc.

Additionally, HCCB has taken country wide initiatives to provide essential medical equipment such as ICU beds, modular beds, blood banks, PPE Kits, oximeters, thermal scanners, stethoscopes, BP apparatus, gloves face masks, essential beverages for hydration to government hospitals, front-line workers and various vulnerable communities.
