CEO, Christina Ruggiero visits the Bidadi factory and inaugurates the projects

Bidadi, Ramnagara, September 20, 2017: Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) Pvt Ltd – one of India’s leading manufacturer of juices, dairy products and carbonated beverages - today announced that both its factories at the Bidadi Industrial Area will start using solar power and CNG, as sources of energy. As of now, these factories were only using electricity off the grid, generated through non-renewable sources.

Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages has signed an agreement with Atria Solar Power Pvt Ltd., to procure 3 crore units of solar power per year, for its two factories in Bidadi, Karnataka. The Company today also formally inaugurated its CNG based boiler system at its factory. The boiler is powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) – the cleanest of fossil fuels. GAIL – a Navratna and Govt of India Enterprise – will supply CNG to power the two boilers at the factory. As a result of these projects, 65% of the energy requirements of these two factories will be met by renewable sources of energy.

Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages is also steadily replacing all the bulbs at its factories with LED bulbs, all across the country. This will be a significant source of power saving for the country. Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages operates 21 factories in India.

Chief General Manager of GAIL, Mr. Murugesan; Director of Atria Solar Power Pvt Ltd, Mr. Sunder Raju and CEO of Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt Ltd, Mrs. Christina Ruggiero, were present at the factory today to inaugurate the projects and preside over the event. We are inspired by India’s ingenuity and the Govt’s vision of achieving 40% cumulative electric power capacity from non-fossil fuel based energy resources by 2030. I want to thank our partners GAIL and Atria Solar Power Pvt Ltd for providing leadership and helping us navigate the way."?
