7 HCCB factories win Gold awards at the India Green Manufacturing Challenge
Bengaluru, August 03, 2021 - HCCB - one of India’s top FMCG companies – was conferred the ‘Responsible Corporate Citizen Award’ at the prestigious India Green Manufacturing Challenge 2021 conducted annually by the International Research Institute of Manufacturing (IRIM). The award recognizes HCCB’s work in the areas of green manufacturing, community development and corporate governance among others. HCCB also won 7 gold awards conferred to its two factories based in Bidadi (near Bangalore) and one each in Sanand and Goblej (near Ahmedabad), Khordha (near Bhubaneshwar), Ameenpur (near Hyderabad), and Guntur (near Vijayawada).
The Gold awards are based on a 200-to-800-point rating scale out of which factories scoring more than 700 points qualify for Gold. This rating is achieved through a structured assessment of factories on 15 indicators of the IRIM Green Manufacturing Framework. The assessment is customized for each facility by assigning unique weightage to each indicator based on the organization's priorities towards environmental impact, business imperatives and probability of success. The process includes rigorous onsite assessments.
Speaking on the awards won, Neeraj Garg, CEO, HCCB, said, “It is heartening to note that HCCB and nearly 50 per cent of all our factories have been recognized for our commitment to green manufacturing practices. As a company it has been our endeavour to go beyond the norms to strengthen our safety culture and ensure optimum utilization of resources such as water, energy, packaging materials, effluent management, and asset utilization. My deepest congratulations to all the teams and their families. WE are continuing to invest in our factories despite a very challenging pandemic situation. We are positive about turning the corner for our business next year and win many more awards.”
The jury considered several parameters ranging from HCCB sourcing 50% of its energy needs through new and renewable energy, adopting tools and techniques to become a digital enterprise, providing skill development training to unemployed youth, implementing a robust plastic waste management program in 35 cities etc. The company had also showcased its nation-wide water conservation projects, renewable & clean energy programs and model village development initiatives to the jury.
The HCCB factories among other things won the recognition for their efforts in using biofuel for boilers; achieving 100% LED lighting; using new and renewable sources of energy; recycling plastic waste; and minimizing the use of raw materials through various initiatives.
- In all, 57 top class factories were in the fray
- HCCB factory was the top scorer to receive the Apex Award
- The award is based on an onsite assessment by a third party
- The assessment is carried out against 15 indicators of the Green Manufacturing barometer
Bengaluru, September 10, 2020 – Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), one of India’s top FMCG companies, has bagged Gold Medal in the prestigious India Green Manufacturing Challenge 2020 organized by the International Research Institute for Manufacturing (IRIM). The Apex Award has been conferred on HCCB’s Bidadi factory in recognition of the consistent progress made in the adoption of sustainable manufacturing practices. The factory got the top scores for the Apex Award basis an onsite assessment conducted by the IRIM team of experts.
Speaking about the significance of the award, Alok Sharma, Executive Director, Supply-Chain, HCCB, said, “We are absolutely delighted to receive such a prestigious honour. The Gold Medal is a testimony to our commitment to sustainability. The team worked diligently to implement, internalize and institutionalize the overall framework of sustainable manufacturing. This recognition will further inspire the team to continue on the journey to attain our sustainability goals.”
International Research Institute for Manufacturing, as an unbiased third party evaluates and rates all the manufacturing factories based on their onsite assessment called Priority Adapt, a unique green manufacturing barometer. The assessment is carried out basis the weightage provided to the 15 indicators of IRIM’s Green Manufacturing Barometer. The result of the Priority-Adapt onsite assessment is expressed on a scale ranging between 200 to 800 points. The factories scoring more than 700 points qualify for Gold.
Due to the global spread of COVID 19 and the subsequent nationwide lockdown implemented by the government, this year’s award program will be telecast on ET Now channel during the second week of September.
The India Green Manufacturing Challenge was conceptualized by International Research Institute for Manufacturing to provide a competitive platform for manufacturing units based in India by recognizing their consistent progress made in improving sustainability.

Introduction
The HCCB logo is an affirmation of our core values. Much like the Indian ethos, we too, seek humility, progress, care, compassion and inclusivity. We too are curious, colourful and diverse.
Our logo has three components:
1) HCCB wordmark
The colourful wordmark captures the vibrant spirit and diversity of India. Between the four colours in the wordmark, they combine the primary or secondary colours of the top 8 selling brands of HCCB. The two Cs in the logo come together to form the infinity symbol; a symbol of the infinite opportunities that India as a country has to offer and HCCB as a company has to leverage. The imperfect letters in the logo is simply an assertion of our core value of not striving for perfection but progress.
2) The company name
The company name is written in the Noto Sans font, which is designed to be harmonious across multiple languages.
3) The brand proposition
The company’s brand proposition ‘Inspired by India’ summarises our purpose and our soul. We are Indian and India brings the best out of us.
Do’s and Don’ts of Using HCCB Logo
Do’s
- Always use the Logo in its original form
