Nemam, July 8, 2019:Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) - one of India’s largest FMCG companies – has entered into a Wind Power Purchase agreement for supply of 3.8 million units per annum for one of its factories situated at Nemam near Chennai under 3rd party mechanism. The new power purchase agreement will now enable the HCCB factory to meet around 40% of its total electricity requirement from renewable sources.
The agreement is in line with the Company’s sustainability goal to achieve 50% of its energy requirements across all factories through renewable energy sources by 2020. In what could be termed as the first such arrangement, the factory would source the electricity from the wind mill, which will be operated and maintained by a third party. Among other things the wind mill helps reduce carbon footprint since it generate power from wind with no carbon emissions and helps conserve water and fossils fuel which used to generate power by thermal power plant
“The Nemam factory is now a ‘Model Factory’ for the company’s operations across the country”, said Dinesh Jadhav, Executive Director, Supply Chain, HCCB Pvt Ltd. He further added, “We remain committed to increasingly enhance the use of renewable sources of energy in all our factories in phases."
From embracing wind power to adopting energy efficient technology and replacing conventional bulbs and light sources in factories by LED lights, HCCB’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond aligning with natural forces. Using more renewable energy to power the plants enables HCCB to reduce carbon footprint.
The HCCB logo is an affirmation of our core values. Much like the Indian ethos, we too, seek humility, progress, care, compassion and inclusivity. We too are curious, colourful and diverse.
Our logo has three components:
1) HCCB wordmark
The colourful wordmark captures the vibrant spirit and diversity of India. Between the four colours in the wordmark, they combine the primary or secondary colours of the top 8 selling brands of HCCB. The two Cs in the logo come together to form the infinity symbol; a symbol of the infinite opportunities that India as a country has to offer and HCCB as a company has to leverage. The imperfect letters in the logo is simply an assertion of our core value of not striving for perfection but progress.
2) The company name
The company name is written in the Noto Sans font, which is designed to be harmonious across multiple languages.
3) The brand proposition
The company’s brand proposition ‘Inspired by India’ summarises our purpose and our soul. We are Indian and India brings the best out of us.
