Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverage’s Factory At Bidadi Achieves 100% Led Lighting

HCCB (Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages) - one of India’s largest FMCG companies – today announced that its factory at Bidadi has achieved 100 per cent LED lighting. This significant milestone has been accomplished by installing 1050 LED lights across the plant with the aim to use technology and save power.

The Bidadi factory is one of the eight factories to have successfully transitioned to 100% LED lighting. The transition has resulted in power consumption savings of 3.15 lakh units (Kwh/ annum) and reduction in carbon emissions by 250 tons per annum.

Bheemannappa Manthale, Factory manager, HCCB Bidadi, said “Apart from the LED lighting project, the Bidadi factory has also undertaken several initiatives towards renewable energy utilization, resulting in more than 75% of the plant’s electricity requirement is met through solar power. More than 50% of the plant’s fuel utilisation is from briquettes - made up of agriculture waste. We are also working towards converting furnace oil based boilers to CNG fired Boilers.” This is in line with HCCB's vision of meeting 50% of all its energy needs through green and clean fuel by 2020.

A number of HCCB factories also utilize green and clean energy sources like solar power and CNG fuel for meeting their energy requirements. In line with its commitment to sustainable production, HCCB has adopted a number of initiatives including the adoption of briquettes - made out of farming waste like groundnuts and coconut shells - to operate boilers. Establishment of solar rooftops, energy efficient technology and more prominent investment in high-speed manufacturing lines, are a few of the other examples.
