Chennai, August 17, 2019: Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt Ltd (HCCB) – one amongst India’s top FMCG companies, donated 60 Mattresses to the maternity ward of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at a function held at Poonamallee, Chennai today. The dedicated Mattresses will be catering to the patients for post-delivery care.

Under their Model Village initiative, HCCB has also donated 2 battery operated garbage collection vehicles to promote the world without waste program and encourage waste segregation at source. Women in the region are also trained on Vermicompost under the World Without Waste programme.

Deepak Senthilnath, Zonal Vice President, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, said, “In a small and constant act to provide healthcare services to the community, HCCB has always been a step ahead to make a difference. Such initiatives are a small contribution from us for a better tomorrow.”

HCCB has already set up multiple model village communities by supporting them with household waste collection bins. Nemam is the first panchayat in this region to get electric cycles to collect waste. 1200 families, 8 villages under the Nemam panchayat will benefit out of this programme.

Dr. J. Prabhakaran, Deputy Director, Public Health, Poonamallee Health District,said, “We are delighted to see HCCBs support to the community at large and the way they have come forward to support healthcare initiatives at Poonamallee. These donations will contribute to the development of PHC and motivate us to provide world-class service to the patients during post-delivery care.” He further added, “In the past, HCCB has also donated blood bank refrigerator, ECG machine, and ambulance to the centre.”
