Industry 4.0: HCCB’s Kanchenkanya Factory in Raninagar, Siliguri Goes Fully Digital
We maximized our digital prowess at the Kanchenkanya factory by adopting new automation technologies
With HCCB, manufacturing milestones are aplenty! As India’s leading beverage manufacturer, we recently hit yet another home run when it comes to digital manufacturing. What started with our factory in Sanand as a manufacturing technology milestone for the beverage industry, has resulted in another digital marvel at our Kanchenkanya factory in Siliguri – which is now smart, digital, and future-ready.
The digital factory of HCCB at Kanchenkanya is fully digitized with the addition of several new digital transformation technologies including the state-of-the-art Max Pro digital factory solution.
The digitization of the end-to-end manufacturing process at the Kanchenkanya factory is primarily aimed at enhancing operational capability with best-in-class efficiencies.
What does the new technology entail?
HCCB partnered with IBM to institute Maxpro or the Manufacturing Automation and Excellence Programme, a collection of several IT tools to digitally connect all the equipment and machines. Maxpro also features IoT card-based dashboards to visualize live data from machines. This displays the real-time performance of the shop floor based on our KPIs and allows for predictive troubleshooting in case of machine issues.
The platform is an upgrade of the existing solution at Sanand Factory. It is a cloud-based solution, which cutting-edge functionalities that can be leveraged for maximizing productivity.
As a result of the new features, the entire electrical, water, and other energy data from about 140+ devices are now automatically collected without any human intervention. This beverage processing technology has saved effort equal to 120 minutes of time for two associates every day. More importantly, the data is collected every hour to monitor the hourly performance of key metrics like production, SLE, energy ratio, and fuel ratio to provide near real-time visibility for action instead of post facto once a day.
Unlocking the real potential of digitalization
Powered by advanced digital transformation technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, and big data analytics, the digitization process at HCCB's factory in Kanchenkanya has made seamless communication between people, processes, and machines possible.
At HCCB, we are also working towards transforming our existing factories from traditional to digital through a modular approach. Through a digital manufacturing set-up, HCCB aims to not only increase collaboration & employee productivity but also drive agility – all in a bid to ensure that our consumers have better access to India’s most loved beverages.
This incredible milestone in HCCB’s journey of digital transformation technologies is a testament to the company’s vision of #StrongerTogether, with multiple functions working together
